the weekend we were in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan. We are drove three hours by bus and came against a clock Saturday at noon. So that others will not lug their luggage had all day, we first made by Metro on the way to the hotel. (I could kindly stay with Thuy-Lys uncle.) The Metro is very modern and reminded me of the Beijing, which is itself the system of the Tube in London is very similar to that is, it's all very "convenient" . The others had their rooms all on ground floor with tiny windows and hard, narrow, short double beds, but with a large flat screen TV, refrigerator, slippers, towels and water machine. And for 15 €. This is cheaper than a hostel with us and we must refer not even beds. It was certainly not unhappy with the value for money. The hotel itself was crammed into a small street with interesting shops, which led directly to a huge shopping mall which was itself in a shopping district. (At home, I then found out that this is to 西门 叮 acted, the Ginza Taipei: Young, trendy, fashionable.) This fact led to the following image: completely
Shopaholics Yannik and Sanna except with joy ...
instead to go to our Japanese lunch with us in the National Palace Museum, they are both retarded in order auszushoppen body and soul. (At the end Yannik issued to my surprise, only the equivalent of 50 euros.) It was a half Oddyssee to the museum, but it was really nice there, though not as incredibly exciting. I'm there but at least something can get for Thuy-Lys uncle. In the evening we were still located in 淡水 (dan shui), a suburb of Taipei, right on the Danshui River. It is like a promenade with a loud snacks, small restaurants, throwing booths and the like. It reminds one bit in to the Lake Festival Constance, I think. I was so hungry and so in my search deepens food that I did not shoot a single picture! Well ... In the end I was at least satisfied. A little later we were Thuy-Lys uncle picked up by car. Your cousins were seen with their children also visit to them. In all, four children were present, but fortunately they were all very sweet. The next morning we then got up early in order to see more of Taipei, as our volunteers have been scheduled. Because we had a date until 11 clock with the other at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. So we had enough time to the 关 渡 (you guan) to visit temple and Fisherman's Wharf, a vantage point on the sea in the far north of Taipei to go
Then we were driven directly to Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. The building is a white-blue behemoth in on a huge site, which also includes the National Theater and Concert Hall. I found the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Nanjing Although colorless, but more impressive than the Chiang Kai-shek. Maybe it's because I felt in Nanjing had to run up a thousand steps and was able to boot up here comfortably with the elevator to his statue guarded. There we have the Taiwan version of "Changing of the Guards" seen and I must say, Taiwanese Garden could occur in the ballet. What have since withdrawn, was for me no marching. Not even for the Guard technical conditions.
Then we went to Taipei 101, the highest total of 503 to 2007 meters Skyscraper in the world. The area around 101 was full of luxury department stores and offices. There was also an adjacent exhibition building. I felt lower than 101 not so high, even after all the other buildings in the neighborhood a lot lower. I was first at the top by looking through the window, I only was it clear that damn high, and the Stuttgart TV tower is nothing against it. It was really nice top. Only the fastest elevator in the world was not so very likeable. People were instructed to swallow to equalize the pressure, but even that I wanted somehow the pressure does not succeed so well. I have 101 but paid relatively little attention and I am pretty I hurry, I still before the appointed time or wanted to visit the neighboring held manga fair. The time now than we have seen everywhere people walk around with bags of Manga! It was very small, but very cool. I had so much liked to have had so ...
Afterwards we went to eat in a very famous restaurant called 鼎泰 丰 (Ding tai feng) evening, where you have to do first, and gets assigned a number before you get a place. Yes, that's so full there! It is famous for its Shanghai-Style 小笼 包 (xiao long bao), famous with meat and broth-filled dumplings, which were quite good. However, I found the filling bit bland, but maybe I eat else to spice? Tell about food I next blog in more detail. Also on the mango ice cream that we had before because we had to wait so long. After dinner we went back to the bus stop and on the adjacent night market, where we were allowed to roam around half an hour before our bus arrived at half past one in the morning and we finally did arrive in Taichung.
