It is again time for a detailed review of the various dishes of Taiwan. When we were in Lugang, there were a number of specialties that we should look for homework and take pictures for our teacher. The first was 凤眼 糕 (feng yan gao), translated "phoenix-eye cake". They are so called because they look like the eyes of the mythical creature. Unlike any other cake, it tastes really sweet and moderate falls to you word for word on the tongue, as it seems to act together pressed powder or something.
Then there's 绿豆 糕 (lu dou gao), in English "mung bean cake". From the consistency they are the first biscuits are very similar but of a round shape. They are about as big as the lid of a plastic bottle and you have to be somewhat careful when she eats. They decay that is at once and in the amount of powder it is possible that a somewhat falls into the airways and is coughing all the powder thrown out again. But otherwise they are delicious.
I forgot to pull the film ...
In a market then there was a refrigerated specialty that looked like jelly. But it was the consistency of something tougher. It was eaten with sugar water (always brown sugar). This could eat "noodles" and sweet boiled mung beans. The "noodles" there has not been for real pasta. They are white, but slightly transparent. I think they are made from tapioca. The mung beans were good and the noodles are quite neutral, but has the jelly I do not like it.
top of it is shaved ice for cooling.
A little later we came to a business that freshly steamed, stuffed dumplings of rounded form, called 包子 (bao zi) are sold. I know the fact of being home every Sunday as Grandma sold some, but after some hesitation, but then I've bought one and was thrilled. While the pies from Grandma taste a little dry - which is perhaps because I often do not get fresh, but get out of the fridge and warm - even this was in meat juices and so incredibly good. It was the best while simultaneously the easiest thing I've eaten here before!
It was so good that I almost forgot to take a picture!
In the old market streets I could not resist when I read the inscription 豆花 (dou hua) discovered. It is on very soft tofu in sugar water and reminded of the consistency of crème caramel. I was surprised a bit when I also boiled peanuts were served in it. So I've not yet known and the peanuts I felt as a nuisance, so I had first eaten them all away. The Tofu Pudding itself was okay, but not smooth and sweet enough.
re ice for cooling ...
For dinner I had at the restaurant 蚵仔 面 缐 (Taiwanese: he a mi sua) ordered. This is just soup with clams. They are the same shells, which I ate once in the omelet and I sooo do not have tasted, but the mussels were good this time. Maybe it was the preparation and better quality? In any case, I added the soup tasted great. Run me again if I think of it, the mouth water, but maybe that is because I am hungry now have ...
That's been out to dinner Lugang. Yesterday afternoon we were eating ice cream because we so desire had on ice. To this end we undertook a Oddyssee to the perceived other side of town. (We had to change trains at the station.) It was worth it completely! The ice cream parlor was located in a prestigious department store and was called "Stone Cold" and the ice cream was divine. There were things like, "Berry Berry Berry Good" and "Doughn't You Want Some" and "Founder's Favorite," which I chose. The wafers were baked fresh and were coated with chocolate if desired. The ingredients such as chocolate brownie, pecans, caramel and chocolate sauce in my work were into it fresh right before your eyes on an ice-cooled platform. Since I am sorry to say that the Amatista nothing against it.
The Oddyssee and converted 5 euros have been worth a thousand times!
On the same evening we have taught our volunteers how to play Mahjong. I learned it in China before, but only for a day played, so I've forgotten. It was very funny in that we have a half hour early were there and played in a conference room, where there is a huge U-shaped table and at every single place was a microphone, so that promptly about these intervened. On the hottest it was that I was sitting at the head of all the space and could interrupt as soon as I spoke. MUAHAHAHAHA! Play a game in itself was also badly funny. I think we were the loudest table ... And I even won once! Afterwards we went to eat something. At a street stall you could choose different things that were boiled in water and then mixed with sauce. It was not very tasty ... We have mushrooms, noodles, quail eggs, mini corn and other stuff inside.
Selection.
The result ...
In the neighboring state, there were deep-fried sweet potatoes. They look like French fries taste, but sweet, and damn tasty! Next time I should buy me. Sorry, but the camera has focused wrong!
's was the first of my culinary excursions: D I'm hungry and Nici munch their lunch next to me, maybe I should slow things out and bring me something ...
